The successful scale-up of a photochemical process requires a thorough investigation of key parameters. The MPDS®PRO is designed for this purpose, offering exceptional corrosion resistance, making it ideal for demanding applications like chlorination, bromination, and fluorination.
For maximum durability and reliability, it features highly resistant Kalrez® seals and corrosion-resistant reactor components, ensuring safe operation in aggressive environments. The protection cabinet’s special coating further enhances longevity.
Using MPDS®PRO in miniplant technology allows systematic determination of process parameters under controlled conditions, enabling direct comparison of methods. It also supports seamless industrial scale-up and detailed optimization of existing processes.
Combined with Peschl Ultraviolet’s safety-engineered photoreactors, MPDS®PRO facilitates the development of highly efficient, durable photochemical production plants for the most challenging applications.

1. Lamp
All wavelengths relevant to photochemistry
We provide a comprehensive range of lamps as standard products. Our products encompass the full spectral spectrum in photochemistry by employing both monochromatic and polychromatic light sources. Our state-of-the-art lamps, including UV-LEDs, daylight-emitting Xenon light sources, and mercury medium- or low-pressure lamps, exemplify the forefront of technology within our photoreactor systems. We measure and deliver the pertinent spectral energy distribution data for each light source. This guarantees that all gathered data is quantifiable, reproducible, and suitable for publication.

2. Cladding tubes
For immersion and thermal separation of lamps
An advanced, modular cladding tube system exists for the thermal separation of the lamp from the reaction medium. The cutting-edge MPDS® screwing mechanism ensures that glass fastening components do not shatter and can be used under a maximum pressure of 0.5 bar. The diameters of the cladding tubes in the laboratory are optimised for photochemical investigations while maintaining a consistent ratio to commercial scales. The glass tubes are designed for easy cleaning, being fully disassemblable and ideally suited for CIP cleaning procedures.

3. Photoreactor
Select the suitable standard photoreactor
From batch and semi-batch to continuous flow photoreactors, we offer the full range as standard, including Batch-, Falling Film-, Tubular-Flow-, Side-Loop-, Plate-Flow-, and Micro-Flow photoreactors. Depending on the application, reactor volumes from 2 ml to 5,000 ml are available, with customized solutions upon request.
To ensure maximum durability and reliability, all photoreactors are designed with corrosion-resistant materials, making them particularly suitable for aggressive chemical environments, such as halogenation processes. High-performance Kalrez® seals and high robust connectors provide exceptional chemical stability, even under extreme conditions.
Most reactors are equipped with multiple access points for optical measurement, sampling, gas injection, or inertization. Our standard remains: all photoreactors used in the laboratory can be seamlessly scaled to industrial levels while maintaining their efficiency and robustness.

4. PRO Cabinet
Safe, durable, and user-friendly protection for photochemical applications
To comply with legal industrial safety requirements, the use of a protective casing is mandatory. The photonCABINET(safety cabinet) not only ensures maximum safety for photochemical applications but is also designed for practical and user-friendly operation.
A key feature of the photonCABINET is its corrosion-resistant coating, which provides long-term durability and protection even in aggressive chemical environments. This makes it particularly suitable for demanding applications such as halogenation processes. Special attention has been given to ease of use, allowing for simple sampling and the effortless integration of sensors and actuators, such as stirring tables and dosing pumps. Encoded connectors ensure correct electrical connections, preventing misconfigurations.
The cabinet is also equipped with an active air extraction system, ensuring the safe removal of exhaust gases. Alternatively, the safety cabinet can be connected to an existing exhaust system for seamless integration into laboratory infrastructure.

5. CONTROL Cabinet with PLC
for measuring, controlling and regulating
The controlCABINET with integrated PLC (processCONTROL) is an extension module within the MPDS®PRO process development system stepping into a scalable and reproducible mini plant system. By using the MPDS®PRO in miniplant technology in the laboratory, it is possible to determine all photochemically relevant process parameters such as space-time yield, reaction kinetics, selection of suitable solvents, concentration, spectral absorption coefficient as well as optical path length, etc.. In addition, different photochemical process methods can be compared and evaluated side by side. Only with the basic process parameters obtained, the feasibility and cost of photochemical processes can be assessed (CAPEX / OPEX).
In addition, the controlCABINET can be used to store rack modules such as power supplies, cooling units or spectrophotometers for a structured and safe handling. The control CABINET is supplied by the photonCABINET via a coded system cable.
