Alexander Peschl, Managing Director of Peschl Ultraviolet GmbH, and Prof. Dr. Dirk Ziegenbalg, Head of the Photochemical Reaction Engineering Group at the Institute of Chemical Engineering at Ulm University, discussed pioneering opportunities for collaboration in the field of photochemistry during their visit to Hahn-Schickard in Ulm. Photoreactors use light energy to initiate chemical reactions, enabling synthesis processes to be carried out at lower temperatures and with minimal by-product formation. This environmentally friendly and efficient process opens up new perspectives for the synthesis of a wide range of chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
Initial approaches for collaboration are based on the synergy between Peschl Ultraviolet’s advanced UV photoreactor technology and Hahn-Schickard’s expertise in process optimization and analytics. Peschl Ultraviolet is a leader in the development and global distribution of UV photoreactor systems used in industrial, medical and environmental applications. Prof. Ziegenbalg and his team contribute extensive knowledge in the development and optimization of photochemical reactions, supporting fundamental research and technological innovation. This cooperation aims to set new standards for the use of light as a tool in chemical reaction technology.
